Baby Shower

I was curious enough to do some research about diaper cakes and baby shower to see how the idea originated and if there is a person who is responsible for creating first diaper cakes. If you can help me to bring some light in this direction that would be great. I found something interesting though on Wikipidea – “In the United States, many people choose to have baby showers for both parents, and some people have a men-only shower” – did you know that? What a surprise for me. Have you personally ever heard of a men-only baby shower?. This is interesting i feel like I’m behind on this whole baby shower topic :) I will try to find out some more interesting information and will post it here.

Baby showers arrantly are not for women only. I wonder if on men-only baby showers they use diaper cakes too :) )

Flowery Diaper Cakes

I saw these and at first I was a litle bit unsure wether I like these or not. Check these diaper cakes from diaper gifts.

They have flowers on them and that threw me off a little bit in the begining, but then after taking a closer look I thought that they are actually pretty cool. You know the feeling – diaper cakes – it is a bit weird in itself. But diaper cakes with flowers? Hmm. So what? They look colorful fresh and beautifull. That’s all that matters.

Diaper Cake from diapergifts.com

I’m sure you will enjoy checking collection of diaper cakes they have to offer. They say that all cakes are made in a smoke and pet free environment and every cake is made by hand. All diapers in cakes are usable and no glue used to attach them.

How to make a diaper cake – blog

I found another site that has a lot of useful information about making your own diaper cakes. The author is sharing own experience and givving tips and instructions on making two to three tier diaper cake. I really liked some ideas from her that you may not think about if you’re a beginner. “Pampers size 3 have a beautiful design but Pampers size 1 are very plain and boring.”

She also shares the list of ingredients :

  • Two packs of diapers, more if you want a big cake
  • Baby essentials and small gifts to decorate the cake with and hide in the cake
  • Rubber bands in various sizes to hold the diapers in place
  • Medium sized hat box for the base – you can also use cardboard or thick poster board, but it’s not as pretty
  • Colorful ribbons, bows, and netting (or cellophane) to wrap the cake in
  • For two or three tiered cakes, wooden dowels to hold each tier in place
